Hollywood Hypocrisy: Selena Gomez’s Fake Tears vs. Real Border Facts

Hollywood Hypocrisy: Selena Gomez’s Fake Tears vs. Real Border Facts

Once again, a Hollywood celebrity is playing the role of “Woke Warrior,” and this time, it’s Selena Gomez. The pop star recently delivered a teary-eyed monologue about so-called “mass deportations” and “family separations.” But as a California-born Latina, I’ve seen real immigration struggles up close—not the virtue-signaling fantasy Hollywood peddles to boost their own careers.

Oh, and speaking of careers—Selena’s latest film, Emilia Peréz, just so happens to be getting Oscar buzz (along with some controversy). Coincidence? Of course not.

The “Mass Deportation” Myth: Hollywood’s Favorite Lie

Selena wants you to believe Donald Trump unleashed a deportation apocalypse, but let’s talk about actual facts. Under Trump, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) prioritized deporting criminals, not families. That means focusing on individuals who were found guilty of human trafficking, drug smuggling, and violent crimes.

The vast majority of deportations under Trump targeted criminal illegal aliens, including MS-13 gang members—the same gangs terrorizing Latino communities. If deporting violent criminals is what brings Selena to tears, perhaps she should focus on the innocent people victimized by them instead.

And let’s set the record straight on the so-called “family separation” crisis. That policy? It began under the Obama administration. Funny how Hollywood conveniently ignored that little fact when praising Obama, but suddenly, enforcing existing laws became “cruel” under Trump.

Border Security Isn’t Cruel—It’s Common Sense

Selena and her Hollywood friends love to act like the border wall is some kind of moral evil, but the truth is simple: walls work. A strong border isn’t about hate—it’s about stopping human trafficking, illegal drugs, and cartel violence.

I grew up seeing firsthand how open-border policies hurt the very immigrant communities Hollywood claims to care about. Trump’s policies—like the Remain in Mexico program—helped reduce illegal crossings and discourage the dangerous journeys that lead to so much exploitation.

Legal immigrants who follow the law deserve to have a fair system, and that means securing the border. That isn’t hate—it’s fairness.

Hollywood’s Hypocrisy: Safe in Their Mansions, but Preaching to the Rest of Us

Here’s the part that really gets me—Selena Gomez, like so many other celebrities, lives in a gated mansion far from the reality of border towns and immigration crises. She doesn’t have to deal with overcrowded hospitals, cartel violence spilling over the border, or blue-collar wages dropping because of an unchecked influx of illegal labor.

Working-class Americans—including Latinos and legal immigrants—are the ones who pay the price. But Hollywood elites never will.

And what is Selena’s solution? Crying on Instagram and collecting likes. Sorry, but social media sob stories don’t fix real-world problems.

Reality Check for Selena: America Doesn’t Need Hollywood Lectures

As a proud Latina, I know legal immigration makes this country great. But without secure borders, we undermine national security, hurt legal immigrants who play by the rules, and reward lawlessness.

Trump’s policies weren’t about “hate” or “tearing families apart.” They were about fixing a broken system and protecting American citizens—including immigrants who came here the right way.

So, Selena, maybe save the tears for your next Oscar campaign. America needs facts, not fiction.
